Middle school tutoring · Grades 6 to 8 · Coral Gables
The grade dropped. The reason is older.
A sixth grader lost in fractions is rarely lost in fractions. We find the year it stopped holding, and start there. From third grade up, one-on-one.
A grade fails at the top. The gap that caused it is usually years back.
Why another hour of homework help does not fix it
A grade that falls in October was usually decided in April
Every subject builds on the year before it. A student is rarely stuck on this week's chapter; they are stuck on something earlier that never quite set.
So tutoring that only covers this week's assignment keeps rebuilding on the same soft ground. The consultation exists to find the point underneath, and the schedule after it moves fast enough to catch the class rather than restarting the year.

ISEE Lower Level, in person and online
The ISEE Lower Level is the admission test for students applying to grades 5 and 6. We tutor the mathematics and reading it tests one-on-one in the center, and the practice platform drills the format from home.
In person, one-on-one
The free consultation first, then sessions on the quantitative reasoning, mathematics achievement, verbal reasoning and reading the test scores, built backwards from the test date.
Starts with the free consultation. Ten students at a time.

$29.99/month
Every question in the ISEE Lower Level bank in sessions of 10, 25 or 50, a written explanation for every answer, your percent correct by skill, and unlimited full-length timed practice tests with no essay section.
Start free →How a family uses it
A parent creates the account and adds the student as a profile; a child under 13 practices only through a profile on a parent's account. Three free sessions first, then the plan if you want the whole bank. For a child under 13 the free sessions unlock after a card-verified parental consent: any plan, or a $25 deposit refunded after the first set. The results by skill tell the tutor where to spend the next session.
Renews monthly until you cancel; cancel online in two clicks from Account, then Purchases. What the plan includes.
What "Start free" gives you, and what it doesn't
Every exam on the practice platform starts with three free sessions, with no trial clock. For a student 13 or over, no card is needed. For a child under 13, the free sessions unlock after a card-verified parental consent: any plan, or a $25 deposit refunded after the first set. Here is exactly where the line is.
Free, for each exam
- An account, and a parent account with student profiles if the student is under 18.
- Three practice sessions of 25 exam-style questions each, drawn from a free set of around 150 questions per exam.
- The correct answer to every question at the end of each session.
- Your percent correct by skill, so you can see which topics are costing points.
- A worked solution for the first two questions of each set, to show you what the explanations look like.
With a plan
- Every question in the exam's bank, not only the free set.
- Sessions of 10, 25 or 50 questions, as many as you want.
- A written explanation for every answer, not just the first two.
- Unlimited full-length timed practice tests, in Exam mode or with Solutions Check, with every plan.
- For a family: every student profile on the parent's account practices under the parent's plan.
When the three free sessions are used, the platform asks you to choose a plan; nothing is charged until you do. A student under 18 asks a parent, who buys from the parent dashboard. Plans and prices.
Practice from home, by course
Chapter-by-chapter practice for middle school courses, with a worked explanation for every answer. Courses appear here as their question banks are published.
Every course starts with free practice sessions. Students under 18: a parent buys the plan and adds you. All middle school courses.
Our approach
The fastest way to learn is to take your time
Review at widening intervals instead of cramming. Change the schedule and watch what a term of studying retains.
Cramming buys the test day. Spacing buys the year.
These curves model the shape of the spacing effect. They are illustrative, not measured student results.
Designed for student success
Focus-driven cubicles and smart tech
Our private cubicle layout reduces visual distractions so students can focus entirely on their work. Each station has a large, interactive tablet that automatically saves all student and tutor notes.
Audio recording is available as an option. Where a family opts in, you can hear exactly how each session was taught, and the tablet keeps the session's notes.

Nothing is committed until you have seen the room.
We sit with your child
We work through the subject until it stops holding together.
We show you the gap

We say if we fit

Questions parents ask
How do you know where to start?
The free consultation. One session with your child, working through the subject until we find the point where it stops holding together.
My child is in third, fourth or fifth grade. Do you take them?
Yes. We tutor from third grade up. The consultation is the same: find where the subject stopped holding, and start there.
Can I see what happens in a session?
If you want to, yes. Audio recording is optional, and where you opt in you can listen to the session from home.
How many students do you take?
Ten at a time, one-on-one only. When the roster is full, it is full.
Do you help with homework, or with the gaps?
Both, in that order of urgency and reverse order of importance. Homework keeps the grade alive this month. The gaps are what decide high school.
Where are you?
5915 Ponce de Leon Blvd, Coral Gables, in the Plumer Building on the University of Miami's Coral Gables campus. U Tutors Academy is independent and not affiliated with the University of Miami.
Ten seats. One could be your child's.
The consultation is free and takes one session. You will know more than another term of guessing would tell you.
Before the consultation you sign our short Client Services Agreement, by email or at the center; the consultation takes place once it is signed.
